You're an artist. You know you are. With your digital camera, you can take incredible photos. You've got them all stored up in iPhoto ,and now you want to share them with the world.

Well, if you have a .Mac account, you have everything you need to publish them on the Internet two different ways: as a HomePage photo album and as a .Mac slide show. Keep reading, and I'll explain how.

Note that these instructions assume you're using iPhoto 5 or later, which is part of the iLife '05 suite of products. If you're using an earlier version of iPhoto, you may still be able to publish the photos as discussed here, but the exact instructions may differ.

Choosing the Photos to Publish

The first step to publishing your photos on the Internet with iPhoto is to create an iPhoto album that includes all of the photos you want to publish. If you've been using iPhoto for a while, you should already know how to do this. But just in case, here's a quick review.

  1. If iPhoto isn't already running, open it.
  2. Choose File > New Album.
  3. In the dialog that appears to enter a name for the album in the Name box. I named mine for DotMac, but you can name it anything you like.
  4. Click Create. The new album appears in the Source list.
  5. Select the Library source or any album to display the photos it contains. Then drag the photos you want to publish to the new album. They are copied to the new album. Repeat this process for all of the photos you want to publish. Here's what mine looks like:

Of course, if you already have an album that contains just the photos you want to publish, you've already done this step, so you don't have to do it again.
